About

Sandals is a location-based Christian network where users connect anonymously to send and receive prayers. Using location services, it discovers nearby users, enabling prayer interactions through messages and photos.

In June 2024, I moved from Lisbon to Paris. I joined some friends from church and we walked on the street at 18th arrondisement in Paris, we prayed silently for each stranger we passed by. Then I started to wonder: What if I can know the thoughts from these strangers I walk pass daily, in the metro, in a supermarket or at a park, and that I can pray for them more specificly? So the app Sandals was born in 2024 summer. With simple, sincere hearts we can walk and pray for strangers nearby.

The name - SANDALS, is inspired by a verse from The Bible, Mark 6:9—when Jesus sent out his disciples to go to nearby villages to pray for people, he said, "Wear sandals, not an extra shirt".
